In-Sight Vision System in Transmission Control Module Inspection

Because excellent product quality is a necessary condition for satisfying the purchasers of electronic-hydraulic automatic transmission control modules with a variety of complex features. Manually inspecting these features is a time-consuming process and cannot guarantee the detection of defect characteristics. Using the Cognex In-Sight vision system for transmission control module inspection can address these issues.

In a typical application, the vision system is installed on automated equipment and moved to 10 different positions to perform various inspection tasks. PLC and automated equipment communicate with the Cognex vision system to carry out these operations. The PLC sends a command to move the automated arm to the first inspection position. Once the automated equipment reaches the correct location, the PLC sends a signal to the vision system to take pictures, and the vision system responds indicating that the inspection is complete. Then, the PLC sends a command to move the automated equipment to the next inspection position.

Traceability ensures that the correct product is being inspected. There are 2D codes on the parts, which are read by DataMan ID code readers. The In-Sight vision system confirms the presence of bolts, gauge pins on connectors, and their positions, and verifies the presence of tape. After completing product inspections, the vision system sends the inspection results and defect images to the production management software system. Products that do not meet company standards are automatically removed from the production line. The In-Sight vision system's inspection ensures the quality of automatic transmission control modules, prevents rework, and increases customer satisfaction.
