Medicine Granule Packaging Inspection System

Background

In the pharmaceutical industry, it's often observed that the quantity of medicine granules packed into blister boards is insufficient or some granules are missing. To prevent such non-compliant products from entering the market, a significant number of quality control department personnel are required to inspect the products. During this inspection process, a substantial amount of raw materials is also wasted. Therefore, in industrial automation production, the introduction of intelligent vision systems to replace manual inspection is essential. These systems use measurements of pill dimensions, pattern matching, and other features to detect non-compliant products accurately and automatically reject them.

 

System Performance

The system employs the Cognex In-Sight 5100 high-speed intelligent vision system, which efficiently and stably detects information about medicine granules in blister boards while they are in motion. Four sealed products are inspected simultaneously, with the algorithm independently analyzing the information for each board. When non-compliant products are detected on one or more boards, the intelligent vision system sends the corresponding signal to the NG marking control system. When it reaches the rejection station, the NG products are consistently removed.
