In the machine vision industry, there are many types of machine vision light sources, such as strip light, backlight, parallel backlight, coaxial light, spot light, tunnel light, bowl light, ring light, spherical light, bar concentrating light, and so on. According to the wavelength and color of light, it can be divided into X-ray, blue light, red light, white light, infrared light, etc. What questions do you know about machine vision light sources? The following Xinxiwang will answer for you:

Question 1: If I use a special light source for lighting, can I use a normal camera?

A: Does a special light source refer to a special wavelength, such as ultraviolet or infrared? If this is the case, the ultraviolet light source, the camera must be able to sense ultraviolet light, and the same is true for infrared. In addition, you need to consider whether there is a coating on the lens, which will filter out some wavelengths of light.

Question 2: Can you tell us about light sources such as high burst strobe with short exposure times?

Answer: Short-term burst flash is actually the application of the depth of the light source, that is, through this controller, it can instantly output a higher voltage than the light source, such as the light source needs 24V, the controller can instantly output 48V, and then the light source can reach a very high brightness.

Question 3: The inner hole of the product is 1mm, how to put the light into it. Detecting the metal flakes inside?

A: The inner hole of this product is one millimeter, mainly depending on the depth. If it is relatively shallow, it is also possible to light it from the side; If it's a little deeper, you can consider using coaxial light. The light reflected by the object is on the same axis as the camera, so that the light source does not block the field of view of the camera and lens.

Question 4: Do I need an analog or digital controller for the light source?

A: Generally speaking, the light source needs a controller, and we mainly divide it into analog and digital. Of course, you can also do without it, just give the voltage and current required by the light source; However, we do not recommend this kind of voltage, if the voltage and current are not well controlled, it may cause the light source to decay quickly or be damaged.

Question 5: What are the key influencing factors for the matching between light source and camera selection?

A: If you use a color camera, it is recommended to choose a white light source; If it's a black and white camera, there's no direct relationship between them, as long as the light source doesn't block the view.

Question 6: What is the impact if I use a falling edge?

A: It is recommended to use the rising edge, the general circuit, there is no signal is low, there is a signal from low to high, and then through the pulse width and then from high to low, this time may have some lag. However, if the system is using a high level with no signal and a low level when there is a signal, then it is better to use the falling edge.
