Originally, the quality of automobile manufacturing mainly relied on three-coordinate measurement, which was inefficient, time-consuming, and the amount of data was seriously insufficient, and it could only be measured offline. Machine vision introduces non-contact measurement technology and gradually develops into online measurement systems such as fixed online measurement stations and robot flexible online measurement stations, which can strictly monitor the fluctuation of body size and provide data support.

In addition to traditional three-coordinate measurement and laser online measurement, visual measurement methods such as blue light scanning measurement and surface defect measurement can be more finely measured, and high-precision monitoring is provided for the basic feature size of the car body, the assembly effect of the car body, and defects. A variety of monitoring and measurement methods are combined with each other to ensure zero defects in production parts and high quality of vehicle manufacturing.

The machine vision guidance system breaks through the limitation of the robot's simple and repeated teaching trajectory, so that it can adjust the workmanship trajectory in real time according to the changes of the workpiece being operated, and improve the intelligent level of the robot. Vision-guided technology has gradually penetrated into the whole process of automobile manufacturing, such as guiding robots to carry out optimal matching installation, precise hole making, weld guidance and tracking, spraying guidance, windshield loading guidance, etc.

The machine vision inspection system can carry out manufacturing process inspection, automatic tracking, tracing and control of products, including obtaining body parts codes through optical character recognition (OCR) technology to ensure the traceability of parts throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring the integrity of component assembly by identifying the presence or absence of parts, and identifying product surface defects or whether there are defects in processing tools through visual technology to ensure production quality.
