  Medical plastic bottles are a main product of Aoxing Hengxun Company , and its market sales have grown steadily. As a widely used medical consumable, its products are related to national health. Therefore, the requirements for quality inspection and testing of medical plastic bottles are very strict.
In the past, the medical plastic bottles produced by Aoxing Hengxun Company relied on manual inspection. In order to complete the strict inspection requirements, not only a lot of human resources were occupied, but the quality of sorting also varied. Therefore, Aoxing Hengxun Company urgently needs to carry out technical transformation work to improve detection efficiency.
At this time, Xinxiwang Technology Company suggested that Aoxing Hengxun Company adopt Cognex's In-Sight vision system . This vision system uses advanced pattern matching technology PatMax to position plastic bottles, and its spot detection and defect detection technology can be stably applied to high-speed inspection on conveyor belts.
Through on-site testing and calculations, Aoxing Hengxun Company has applied a total of 4 sets of In-sight 7402 smart cameras on the inspection line to comprehensively detect defects, missing parts, dirty spots, and aluminum edge sealing of medical plastic bottles. Wrinkles, fading, stubble on plastic pipes, etc. (as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2).

The testing process for medical plastic bottles is divided into two steps, and Cognex's technical engineers have designed them accordingly to ensure the testing requirements. In the first step, the plastic bottles are brought to the first station and bottle inspection station via the conveyor belt. This station is required to detect the dirty spots, discoloration, stubble, defects, etc. of the bottle body. The sorting speed reaches 200 pieces/ min.
The application of In-sight 7402 smart camera here can effectively complete the above inspection requirements. Due to the fast sorting speed, there are high requirements for the camera's operation and processing speed. Cognex's technical engineers solve such problems by increasing the intensity of external light sources, increasing the lens aperture coefficient, and reducing camera exposure time.
In addition, when detecting black spots and dirty spots on the pipe wall, since the plastic bottles are in motion, the stability of the positioning will affect the detection area. Stable positioning can be achieved by using the PatMax positioning function.
In-Sight vision systems have a wealth of tools for detecting defects in plastic bottles. For example, the PatMax tool can accurately locate the detection area of the bottle, and the Blob tool can stably detect dirty spots on the bottle. By adjusting the threshold and judging the area of the dirty spots, it can effectively filter out font interference on the bottle surface. The ExtractHistogram tool is used to detect the gray value of the bottle to determine the color of the bottle.
