Cognex launches DS1000 series of 3D laser displacement sensors

 Cognex, the world leader, has launched an expanded portfolio of 3D laser displacement sensors , an industrial vision controller and a powerful new 3D vision tool. Sensors such as DS1050, DS1101 and DS1300 can handle a variety of diverse 3D applications that require high resolution and extended measurement range.

Now launched with the DS1000 series is the new Cognex VC5 vision controller, which provides a complete solution for challenging 3D needs. VC5 can control up to four 3D sensors and enable communication within the workshop. It also comes pre-installed with Cognex Designer, a new, easy-to-configure software architecture that simplifies 3D application development and creates professional-looking graphical user interfaces. 

The DS1000 Series now also offers expanded options for advanced vision tools. In addition to the proven 2D vision tools PatMax®, IDMax® and OCRMax, the DS1000 series now offers 3D tools such as 3D height, planar mount, planar to planar angle, volume and cross section. With this combination, the DS1000 Series can successfully perform virtually any 3D inspection – providing sub-micron measurements, handling contrast-independent optical character recognition (OCR) and presence/absence detection applications.

The DS1000 series three-dimensional displacement sensor uses laser triangulation technology to obtain three-dimensional information of scanned parts. Displacement sensors enable precise detection of parts regardless of contrast or lighting conditions. The DS1000 Series is calibrated at the factory for fast, consistent installation and provides high-precision measurements in true units without the need for calibration procedures or pixel conversion processes.
